Ah, so you've come here to learn the mysterious art of steeping. If you thought it might be a complicated process and not worth the hassle, then worry not! Steeping is actually just the process of leaving your e-liquids alone for a while before vaping them, in order for the flavours to properly come out.
Much as you'd leave a fine wine, or an oak-barrelled whisky for several years in order for the flavours to 'mature', so you leave your e-juice. What, you just buy whatever's on offer at Tesco? Sacrilege! It's not too late to change your ways - the road may be 'steep', but it'll be worth it in the end.
Good Things Come to Those Who Wait
As this catchy phrase which I definitely just made up states, patience is a virtue, and this is especially true when it comes to your e-liquids. If you have no patience then this guide isn't going to be any use! You can vape e-liquids straight away and it will probably still be a decent experience, but steeping them can actually make a big difference in terms of flavour so it's certainly worth the wait.
What is Steeping?
There really isn't much to the process of steeping. It just involves placing your bottles of e-liquid in a cool, dark place, such as a drawer or cupboard, for around a week or two, or even longer. It's also advised that you shake your bottles as often as possible to speed up the process. Running the bottles under warm water will also help to quicken things up, by getting the molecules moving around faster and spreading flavour-y joy all over your e-juice.
Every Breath You Take... I'll be Steeping You
If you want to shake things up a bit and live on the edge, you could even let your e-liquid steep without the cap on, called 'breathing'. This can speed up the steeping process, but make sure you don't forget about it, because if you leave it for more than around 12 hours the flavour and nicotine content will begin to diminish.
How Long Does Steeping Take?
How long is a piece of string? Steeping time can vary based on the flavour of your e-juice, and your personal preference, so it's quite subjective. Fruity flavours tend not to require as much steeping, while tobacco flavours may take a little longer. The sweeter, dessert flavours take the longest to reach their peak, otherwise known as 'peak steep' (I made that up). Steeping could take a week, a month or even several months, as the whole point is to get the most flavour out of your e-liquid. Once it tastes good to you, you're done. It won't do any harm to leave it for long periods, just make sure not to go past the expiration date!
Is it for Me?
As my mama always used to say, love don't come easy, it's a game of steep and vape. Hopefully you'll have realised the benefits of steeping now, but it's up to you whether you have the patience to leave your e-juice that long. Whatever your preference, Vape Mountain has a great range of e-liquids to choose from so why not pick a few up and get them in the drawer now? You won't have to endure any more steepless nights!
