| What is a Box Mod?3 May 2016 A box mod is a specific type of vape mod. Mods were originally developed by vapers who wanted to get more out of their devices. Aspiring engineers, creatives and craftsmen would get savvy with their tools, tinkering with their devices to allow for greater vapour production or longer battery life, for example. Of course, this DIY approach is not always safe and manufacturers saw an opportunity to develop their own modified devices. And so the vape mod was born! Mod RocksThere are three main types of personal vaping devices: the e-cig, the vape pen and the vape mod. An e-cig, or cigalike, came first and resembles a traditional cigarette in size and shape. It’s generally cheaper and easier to access, sold in many local convenience stores, although you’re more limited in terms of flavour, cloud size and battery life. Vape pens and mods are more developed versions of the e-cig. You can usually only purchase them from specific vape shops or online. They allow a wider choice of flavour, more impressive cloud production and longer battery life – a generally more enhanced vaping experience! Vape mods are at the top end of this spectrum. With greater functionality and customisability, a mod is the most advanced form of personal vaporiser out there, not intended for inexperienced vapers! The even larger space allows for additional components, for instance multiple or higher capacity batteries or larger tanks which don’t need to be refilled as often. Therefore, if you’re after a slim-line, discreet device which can fit easily in your pocket, the chunkier box mod probably isn’t for you! Having said that, box mods are often not as long as vape pens or cigalikes. This means they don’t stick out as far from your face or hand, which may be desirable if you don’t want to draw too much attention to yourself when vaping.
