You've bought your e-cig, and now you're staring forlornly at it, wondering why it won't work. Well, the problem is you haven't learned how to refill it (or fill it in the first place!). No need to worry, though, it's not rocket science, and once you've had a quick look at this guide then you'll be good to go. Make sure, though, that the method applies to the type of e-cig you have, as refilling works in different ways for different models.
Cartomisers
Cartomisers aren't very costly, and many people simply throw them away after a single use. They are even advertised as disposable, but you can actually get quite a few uses out of them before they stop working, so why wouldn't you? The way to refill a cartomiser is this:
Unscrew the cartridge from the battery
Remove the plastic cap on the top end of the cartomiser (sometimes it's on quite tight to prevent refilling!)
Take a look at the wicking material - if it's burnt then the cartomiser might as well be thrown away
Hold the cartomiser at a slight angle and start dripping in e-liquid onto the wicking material (do not drip the liquid into the centre of the cartridge)
Drip in the liquid until the wick is saturated, and then screw your cartomiser back on
Tanks
If you have an e-cig with a tank-like cartridge, such as a clearomiser, then the filling process is fairly similar. It varies, however, based on whether you have a top fill or a bottom fill clearomiser. Top-filling and bottom-filling tanks have subtle differences. With a top fill clearomiser, you fill it at the bot...wait, that's not right. Here's how to fill both:
Top Fill Clearomiser
Holding upright, grab your clearomiser and remove the mouthpiece/inhaler
Fill the tank up in the same way you would a cartomiser (slight angle, avoiding centre hole) - this can be done dripping directly from the bottle or using a syringe
Screw the mouthpiece back on
Bottom Fill Clearomiser
Turn your clearomiser upside down. Unscrew and remove the lower base
Drip in your e-liquid, in the same way mentioned above (centre hole is for air flow)
Screw the base back on
Drip Vaping
Say hello to the creme de la creme of the vaping world. Drip vaping is a more fiddly and time-consuming way of filling your vaporiser, but from a flavour perspective it's unmatched. But what is drip vaping? The answer is that it's simply dripping a couple of drops of e-liquid straight onto the coils of your atomiser, then immediately inhaling the vapour that's produced. This method cuts out the middle-man (the cartridge or tank).
Why is Drip Vaping Better?
With regular vaping the vapour travels all the way through the device before being inhaled, losing taste in the process
You can sometimes get an unpleasant 'burnt' taste when vaping in the usual way
If you've filled your tank fully, you're stuck with one flavour for a while
How to Drip Vape
Open your atomiser
Attach a drip tip to the mouthpiece of your unit
Drip a few drops of e-liquid onto the coils, if you can, or the bridge if not
Activate your device and inhale
For this method, the drip tip is perfect. It's a mouthpiece that fits right over the atomiser, allowing the vapour to be funnelled directly into your mouth. There are hundreds of styles available, so have a browse, find one you like then get started with drip vaping!
