You are here, reading this, meaning you have at least a passing interest in how an e-cig works. Perhaps you are preparing to try it out for yourself or maybe you are a seasoned vaper and want a better understanding of what makes your e-cig tick. Either way, we’re here to provide some answers to your questions.
Who-What-How?
Whether you are new to e-cigs or have been puffing away for some time, you might have a basic understanding of how they work. You choose your e-liquid, put it in, turn it on and inhale, right? In theory, yep.
Here at Vape Mountain, we believe you should have a better understanding of what you are doing. How else are you supposed to show off?
An e-cig is divided into three main parts:
Battery
Tank
Atomiser
So which does what job?
Source of all Power
That’s the battery, in case you were wondering. No battery means no vaping. Nothing. Nada. Not even a puff. Nothing else works without fuel, not a car, not a human, so why should an e-cig be any different? This is true regardless of what type of e-cig you use. Consider it your lighter, just without an actual flame. Seriously, you don’t want flames here.
The battery is rechargeable and usually supplied with your e-cig. Simply plug it in like any other electronic device and you’re ready for another round. Although a lot of batteries are lithium, different types are available so you can still power up once you have done some fancy modifications.
Choose your Flavour!
The tank/cartridge is next or not a lot is going to happen with all that power. This is where the e-liquid goes, ready to be vaped away until it is gone and you start again.
Some, such as a cigalike, run off a cartridge. Although you simply insert it straight in and you’re good to go, it does restrict what flavours you can have.
But the majority of e-cigs feature a tank. You refill this yourself, giving you the chance to stir things up a little by mixing your flavours and seeing what takes your fancy. Once you have the blend sorted, you refill the tank, reconnect it and are ready to go.
Ready? Set? Go!
One more component and you’ll be competent. The final piece is the atomiser; the part that actually creates vapour. The atomiser heats the e-liquid until it reaches boiling point, producing the vape (vapour, not smoke!) and releasing the great flavour combinations you spent all that time mixing.
As e-cigs are so customisable, you can select the atomiser you desire to fit in with your sleek, modified e-cig. At the end of the day, they all do the same thing and you are in trouble without one.
That’s all, folks!
Hopefully now you feel like you have a better understanding of how your e-cig works. Take a look around Vape Mountain for inspiration, liquids or a better understanding.
